The Reviews

Review by: Ian Clark
Personal Rating: 7/10

The 3Com wireless ADSL router could be summed up in a couple of words, "cheap and cheerful". What is lacks, and it definitely does lack, is made up for by it's amazingly low price.

Let me start off by saying that this isn't the router you'll be wanting to buy if you're looking for performance quality and extras along with a nice admin area where you can edit and tweak your network - this just isn't it.

The administration area does work, but it's all a little bit... well poor. It'll work, but you may find yourself taking 20 minutes more than you had expect due to the lack of 'user-friendliness' about it.

Having said all that, if you want a router that works, provides internet to your house and garden, doesn't freeze a lot, and most crucially saves money in the bank, this one is for you.

The firmware was out of date when we bought it and we had to update it, but at around ?20 ($40) it just doesn't matter. Just stick it in, set it up, and off you go. I recommend it for most families that don't need an extremely powerful administration area, as, credit to it it does work. Not the prettiest of machines, but ultimately, do you need a "sexy" router?

Protection or Precaution?
Norton, McAfee, AVG, Bitfinder. All these companies promise to protect your PC from any virus or hacker that may want to harm your computer. But do any of them actually work? Or is it just fleecing you of yet more money for nothing!?
