The Reviews

I have owned this machine now since September, downloaded all my music on it plus downloads, all my photographs, good few movies, and audiobooks. Being on the move all the time I use my address book/contacts and diary, and have a alarm clock with me at all times. Love the album of the day feature and the radomness of the random player. However you do have to buy a proper case for it, and the necessary loader as you do not alway have access to a computer. If you buy the cradle beware that you still have to buy the mains loader it does not really say that on the creative site, only when you look it up properly.

Other than that the machine is Brilliant it froze once on me and that was my fault as I asked it to do something to quickly.

I have always movies with me or tv programmes if I have to stay somewhere, I love the audiobooks (love reading but simply do not have the time) and I have it with me at all times.

I could do without my mobile phone for a few days, I could not do without my zen. If you get used to the controlls, (I love them) you love this machine and the fm radio is a definately bonus for me. It is easier to use than most compeditors, loading and down loading is as easy. It also comes in many colours, and overall was an excellent buy!

Introduction
The Zen Vision:M is one of the latest and greatest achievements from Creative. This item will provide you with hours of fun as it's pack full of useful options. Let me start by telling you that I am not a fan of the Apple iPods and what I look for in an MP3 player is performance and reliability. The Vision M certainly provides this.

Build
The Vision M is almost exactly the same dimensions as it's rival the iPod Video, albeit a little thicker than the iPod. It looks and feels impressive, with the 2.5" screen being just the right size for video without being too much to carry around in your pocket. The middle slider looks very attractive and it's glow is appealing.

Sound Quality
Along with the Vision M, you will be provided a set of headphones as standard. Wow you're thinking, but no, because the headphones are actually of a good quality, unlike with many of the other phones supplied by other manufacturers. Provided you don't trap them in a door, and proceed to walk forwards as a relative of mine did, they'll work fine, perform brilliantly and pump out some good quality sound. Of course this isn't the MP3 player itself but not only does it save you having to fork out another £20 on headphones but it reflects the quality of build of the product. The MP3 player itself supports MP3, WAV and WMA which should make things nice and easy

Ease Of Use
The Vision M is extremely easy to use. The scrollwheel performs well, but as with a lot of things, it might take a little getting used to. The other four buttons help with the navigation and another little touch is creative allow you to tell what you want one of the buttons to do (e.g. Go to your now playing list, or flip over to your videos).

Software
In your package you will receive Creative Media Source along with the driver for the Vision M. Media Source is a very nice, quite lightweight way of transferring music to your MP3, and along with Gracenote it will help you to find your track info. A nice added extra is that Creative have teamed up with Microsoft to allow Media Player 10+ work with the Vision M, so you don't even need to install media source if you're a windows user, which should please quite a number of you.

Video Quality
The quality of the 2.5" screen on the Vision M is amazing. It supports MPG as well and WMV and AVI (with DivX codec). These jargon terms may confuse you a little, but basically it supports almost all video formats. Once you purchase the vision M be sure to check out their default videos, as this will reflect the awesome quality of the screen.

Features
The Vision M is packed with features including music playing, videos, radio, pictures, as well as some extra little features such as the option to make the device perform as an external disk, allowing you to partition some of it's hard drive to the task. When you buy with Creative you will get a bundle of useful features that you just won't find on other products.

Negatives
I can only really think of one. That is that very occasionally the Vision M will freeze, and for me it always seems to be at the most annoying of times, such as when I'm on a flight for example, and you can't bring a pin with you for obvious reasons. The solution is simple, just bring a really sharp pen or pencil with you at all times for backup. As I said it really doesn't happen a lot, but it's best to be prepared for when it does.

Edit: Since writing this review, Creative have updated their firmware and offer it to be downloaded online. This increases the speed and efficiency of the VisionM immensely and so no need to worry about the above point!

Furthermore, Creative have stopped issuing a power point with the MP3 player, as most likely due to a survey of some kind, they have arisen to the conclusion that most people charge their mp3 players on the PC. This isn't so much a negative for Creative but for all mp3 companies as they have all seemed to stop supplying them.

Shall I Buy It?
If it's quality and performance you're after then I would deffinately say yes. Creative's support has always been very good and I doubt you will ever regret buying any creative products. If you've got the money go out and get one!
