The Reviews

Review by: Ian Clark
Personal Rating: 8/10
Date of Review: 06/01/2008

Computers have been expanding so much lately. I got this monitor free with a new Dell PC of mine, and to be honest I was quite pleased with the quality.

17" is really pretty large, certainly large enough for day-to-day use, and working. Ultimately, this really isn't the monitor for you if you're doing some form of art, and need to monitor to display strong, vivid colours. For that reason I give this monitor a 5 / 10, because it's performance really is quite lacking in true colour quality. Having said that, it's build is particularly nice, it's light and very pretty to look at, it certainly won't get any laughs from friends and family as they come across it.

You have to be fair to this monitor and say this - the quality really isn't that good, but for ?50, or a free extra as Dell so often package it as, it's really not that bad at all, perfect for almost all uses of the computer, but I really have noticed a slight dullness in the colour quality when compared to my TrueLife screen, which naturally is expected, but it's vital that you appreciate the quality of the monitor isn't that high.

Setup was extremely ease, and the little buttons and on-screen help is easy to use and play about with. I'd put the colour up strong and increase the contrast a little for best results.

Protection or Precaution?
Norton, McAfee, AVG, Bitfinder. All these companies promise to protect your PC from any virus or hacker that may want to harm your computer. But do any of them actually work? Or is it just fleecing you of yet more money for nothing!?
