The Reviews

Review by: Ian Clark
Personal Rating: 8/10
Date of Review: 14/07/2007

Introduction
I bought the XDR-S50 because I was looking for an item to replace my FM Clock Radio. I like to go to sleep whilst listening to the radio
and I got a little annoyed with the quality of my original FM Radio. I was looking for something else, clarity. Thats why I chose to change
to Digital.

About
I bought the item for ?59.99 from Comet, and there was another Panasonic radio for the same price. The panasonic however was far greater and the
audio output was 3 times greater for the sound. This however, did not meet my needs as I was looking for a small radio which would fit nicely
on my bedside table, look smart, and do it's job. The XD5-S50 certainly does this.

Sound Output
In short, not good. You could in no way call this radio 'loud', outputting a measly 0.3 Watt sound. This does however suit my needs as I only listen to the radio quietly. If you are looking for a louder radio I suggest looking at Pure, Roberts or another greater Sony machine.

To buy or not to buy
It really depends on what you're looking for. If you wish to get a clock radio to go to sleep with then this is for you. If you are looking for a radio which pumps out some loud tunes then I most definitely discourage you from buying this. It suits my needs perfectly however, so I am quite pleased with it. In terms of build, it looks and feels nice. The buttons are all easy to use and it is fairly straight forward.

Norton, McAfee, AVG, Bitfinder. All these companies promise to protect your PC from any virus or hacker that may want to harm your computer. But do any of them actually work? Or is it just fleecing you of yet more money for nothing!?
