The Reviews

I am a MacBook Pro user with a voracious need for storage for iMovie projects up to 60GB.

I have one which I bought when a Lacie Porsche 250GB USB disk failed on me most temperamentally (still under warranty but Lacie will not retrieve data stored. So no good- ?450 upward to recover!) and was over the moon.

Once reformatted from FAT it was fine- the website IS better than the manual.

Silent and not "hot" running (it can get warm when used for 15 hours solid) and with handy lights to show how much you have filled it. Pulses to remind you that it is there but I cannot see it going off completely while my Mac is off or not hooked up...

Now- I ALSO have the 320GB and basically the question is- why would ANYONE pay (currently) ?70 for 250GB when you can get the bigger brother for ?74?

I have reviewed indepth over on the 320GB's page and would suggest that all that I wrote there applies here- it is good value for money, it is simple enough to use and very reliable due to its quietness, well vented coolness and firewire! Firewire is the saving grace- I cannot move 60GB quickly enough with USB but with Firewire I can cope.

I bought this item when my laptops 60GB hard drive began running out of space. My target was to find a hard drive that was fast, simple to use, and most importantly reliable. I found the product on Amazon, brought it, and 2 days later it came.

The wrapping around the product, courtesy of Western Digital, was very nice. As I opened it I was greeted by all these shiny wires and a really elegant hard drive. At first I was upset, as I thought I'd been slightly conned as I couldn't find the USB wire. Don't worry, it was just me being silly, I found it after about 3 minutes, it was neatly tucked away along with a Firewire cable.

I plugged it in, windows took about oooh, 20 seconds to configure and it was up. It came with some added extras which may be of use such as transferring files from your current PC to the hard drive in a click.

I've been running the 250 Premium C for a couple of months now. It runs smoothly, quickly and hasn't let me down once. If you're looking for a fast, dependable drive, get this now!
